The Legacy Heritage Innovation Project

The Legacy Heritage Innovation Project is a non-denominational initiative to support synagogues which are creating new paradigms for congregational education, introducing systemic change through an integrated, family-based approach.  It prioritizes projects which embed learning in the rhythm of Jewish living on Shabbat and chagim, engage parents and children in consistent learning and practice, link the different dimensions of Jewish living (Torah, avodah, gemilut hasadim), and foster collaboration and synergy within congregational life.

INNOVATION PROJECT GRANTS
For the coming year (8/09-7/10), the Legacy Heritage Innovation Project will award grants of up to $30,000 to synagogues which on a regular basis are integrating adult, family, and children’s education into home and/or communal Shabbat and holiday practice on a systemic basis, developing models and “best practices” which might be replicated or adapted for use by other congregations. In addition, grantees will be eligible to apply for multi-year funding of up to $30,000 per year for up to three additional years.

Any congregation may apply for a Legacy Heritage Innovation Project Grant by submitting a Letter of Inquiry by Wednesday, December 3, 2008. For additional information, click here.
