The Legacy Heritage Innovation Project

The mission of the Legacy Heritage Innovation Project is to engage Jewish adults and children more deeply in meaningful Jewish living and community through innovative approaches to family-based Jewish learning in congregations. The Innovation Project seeks to fulfill this mission by:

Supporting congregations implementing innovative family-based educational initiatives which significantly deepen Jewish community by linking learning to the rhythm of Jewish living and engaging parents and children in consistent, long-term learning and practice.

Promoting a systemic rather than purely programmatic approach to family-based Jewish learning.

Immersing children, parents, and other adults in the rhythm of Jewish living on Shabbat and holidays.

Offering professional development to foster Jewish educational leaders’ capacity for innovating and engaging adults and families in the exploration of Judaism.

Developing a network of leaders and congregations engaged in such systemic and family-oriented approaches to Jewish learning.

The Innovation Project seeks to achieve these goals by supporting congregations through grants, benefiting those individual congregations and advancing innovations in other congregations through public recognition of those efforts. Additionally, by funding initiatives which integrate a family-based educational approach in a more systemic manner within congregations, the Innovation Project promotes further exploration of the potential for the family-based approach as a lever to transform Jewish lives and synagogues.
